Funded by the NIH, I planned this trip to recruit participants and engage collaborating organizations across Appalachia. This was the first among a series of trips through rural counties in Appalachia and the Midwest.
This project, created and awarded to Dr. Dolores Albarracín, was a fully remote intervention to increase HIV and HCV testing and harm reduction among people in rural Appalachian and Midwest counties. The intervention included an online platform for participants to connect with the research team and each other, and a series of online group discussion sessions that employed motivational interviewing. As a part of my role in this project, I facilitated group discussions using motivational interviewing and designed and moderated our online platform.
I implore you to look at the amazing research my peers in the Social Action Lab are doing.
